The Companies of the Oil Blue: UOO

(Every week I’ll be spotlighting a company that is featured in the Oil Blue, an indie PC game coming late February.)

The year is 1998. Faced with an overwhelming amount of data that suggests current oil reserves would dry up by 2020 (not to mention the complete control some nations had over others in regards to oil supply), the world’s richest oil companies and world leaders joined forces together to form Universal Oil of Oceaniablue, a direct competitor to the OPEC and OECD leagues who’s control of the oil market began to slip away by 2004.

While most of the oil came from the nations of Iran and other countries, soon the rich preserves in the ocean would be the leading producers of oil in the world. Most of this was due in part to the Detran-Ouldafi Conflict that split the OPEC league in 2011, but the largest factor by far was new research from the best boat shippers resulting in cheaper methods of oil drilling in the ocean, clearing the bar for a viable ocean economy by 2014. Soon, OPEC and OECD disbanded with some joining the UOO, and others dealing directly with their own respective nations themselves.

The UOO was originally formed under a secret alliance that protected the identities of the countries involved due to the looming nuclear war of the Middle East. This was done to protect the viable oil reserves that could be used if a nuclear war was to occur over rich oil fields and foundations, though it also had the added benefit of not damaging the already wavering relations with the countries of OPEC and OECD. Though the war never actually happened, the reserves proved to be profitable enough to invest in anyways, and soon the UOO was the most powerful cartel in the world. The Citizens for a Greener Earth (CGE) group believed that the nuclear scare was done deliberately to form this ultra-alliance of oil producing manufacturers and world leaders, though most of those fears were disproved in the resulting government investigation.

The UOO was headed into a decade where a gigantic oil Renaissance was booming; with supplies becoming the cheapest they’ve ever been to drill in the ocean, many entrepreneurs set out to claim their territory within designated “conflict free” zones that were part of the Austrailia-Oceania Treaty of 2012. Some would be killed in the ocean’s harsh realities, others would be millionaires, but all would report to the UOO, who’s complete control over the markets and laws regulating oil trade would rival that of any other major segment of economy in history. It was a golden era of ocean exploration and drilling, one who’s time would come to an end soon with the loom of territorial disputes and wars, but for now, it was truly amazing.

I’m thinking I should put a white fill on the back of that UOO logo because I was under the impression you were only sticking it on white things, lol.

God, I hate my last name. “Sara” or “Sara G” is so much better – I should go the Prince route and get a symbol…

  6. @JKR: I was almost hoping you’d write “cool story bro”. 😉
