More Spirits Updates: the Pattern Mode.
Time for another new mode in Spirits of Metropolis…this time, it’s a look at the Pattern mode. Woo!
Here’s where the gameplay changes a bit from the previous modes I’ve shown. Instead of focusing on points and multipliers, it’s all about the strategy. Patterns (the little squares circling around some of the gems in the pic below) have appeared on the board, and you have to clear them all using multiplier combos within the pattern itself. Basically, you must steer your combos to the patterns…and sometimes it’ll take more than one turn to do so (harder difficulty levels in this mode actually give you just one turn to do just that, so enjoy the easy difficulty while you can!).
If this isn’t somehow crystal clear by now (hah, not likely) then check out this new vid, and a new song while I’m at it:
Stay with the blog for more Spirits updates, and I do recommend watching this site closely in the next week or so. There *might* be a nice surprise if you do. 🙂
Wow, that looks like it might be really challenging. But also fun 🙂
God, this is going to be so awesome.
I hope the nice surprise is free money. =D
The surprise is dependent on someone else, for once. So if it doesn’t happen, it’s not my fault! :p
I can’t wait for Spirits of Metropolis, THIS is something I’m going to buy upon release.
great feature!!!
a question
is server slow? downloading movies take too much time.
oh did anyone use g-java i think it can make your games accessible on many platforms and on internet browsers. also this way you can get paid advertisings for your games.
like http://www.pogo.com from EA if there is someone that did not see that great web site don’t miss time go to http://www.pogo.com
i think this game make much money if has a good advertisement and a good prise
oh again
did you make those great explosions with particle creator that was used for your winter competition game or just great graphics by amanda
oh i hope that i find a graphist a day to work with me
The server has indeed been very slow. Good news on that front though: I just plunked down $100 to move the site to a cluster server, which should improve speed and reliability greatly. I think the move should start to happen this week and be ready to go by the end of the month. I’ll have a blog post about it soon.
The particle effects were done using Particle Designer, which is one of the best tools I’ve seen for Game Maker. I highly recommend it.
Is September still considered summer?
I am officially making September a summer month. YES I’M JUST THAT AWESOME.
Well this is awesome.
And so is that ^.
How many modes in total now?
If we count the difficulty levels with each mode (3 for each one, and they change the rules of the game quite a bit) then we’re at 20 modes right now. Whoa.
Yowza!
Woo! Sweet! Not to mention the replay value of this game is amazing!
thanks david.
even jan is summer if Spirits become ready in jan!!!
excuse me but another questio!!!!?
how do you capture your games?
can i become a publisher of your game in iran/middle east?
What do you mean by “how do you ‘capture’ your games?”? Do you mean ‘distribute’? ‘Sell’? ‘Design’?
i mean screen recordings that david uploads them to site.
do you use programs like game recorder?
oh and i found a bugg in ONR2 a few days ago. when you are creating (serving) the food for example a ice cream press 2 buttons at same time (G+C) and see what happens. the error is from GM’s engine but can be solve by coding key events with if/else rather events.
if (a keyboard_check_pressed (vk_left)
{
}
else if keyboard_check_pressed (vk_right)
{
}
oh even great games like ONR2 has buggs.
