Logitech Playgear Mod
Logitech - Headphones - $24.99

The nice folks over at Silver Platter entertainment (find out more at umdlab.com) sent me a pair of Logitech headphones, so I decided to give them a spin and write up a review.

Logitech has made some great products for the PSP, and these headphones, while not specifically for the PSP (they can be used on anything, even though "PSP" is slapped on the front of the box), sound and look fantastic. They feel very solid and durable, and according to the official website they can withstand "wear and tear, rain and sweat." I have no reason to believe otherwise, since the construction of these headphones are well done.

They fit around the neck, with some ear dongles that can be removed for extra comfort at the expense of less support. The dongles work great for things like jogging, exercising and such, while I took off the ear straps for lesiure activity since it felt a bit better. I'm not the biggest fan of around the neck headphones, but these really worked out great.

The sound is very, very good. Using 30mm neodymium drivers (the same as some stand alone PSP theater speakers!), they pump out the bass quite well while retaining the mids and highs. Testing it out on the Nightmare Before Christmas, the vocals and music came out great, with some good seperation and clarity. I was more impressed when I tested out some action UMDs such as Kill Bill vol. 2. They work extremely well with action scenes and heavy rock music. The sound that they pumped out was impressive indeed.

If you plan to listen to classical music or dialogue heavy UMDs, these headphones fit the bill just nicely. But they really, really sound great when you push them right with heavy action and loud music. Recommended!

Thanks again to Silver Platter for supplying us with the cool gear!
